Trauma therapy

Traumatic stress

Traumatic stress can present itself days, weeks, months, and even years after the activating event(s). It can occur in both isolated events as well as with prolonged exposure to chronic abusive behaviors and fear-triggering experiences.

Don’t be held back by trauma.

Trauma is not what happened to you, but rather a by-product of damage that was incurred by an event or events that left lasting impressions in your body and memory network. These memories need to be processed to fully heal from the trauma that has been left and not dealt with. Otherwise, a person who has yet to deal with unprocessed trauma will continue to live in cycles of generational patterns that will perpetuate until someone eventually decides to stop it. Be a cycle stopper.

Clarity Therapists are trained to offer a multidimensional approach of holistic healing to someone with trauma. Some modalities of trauma therapy offered are:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure therapy
  • Narrative therapy
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
  • Psychodynamic trauma therapy

Trauma is a universal experience with many who also suffer comorbidity with substance abuse and mental health issues. (SAMHSA) has collaborated a definition of trauma as being “individual trauma results from an event, series of events, a set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.”

People that experience trauma typically experience effects in their neurobiological makeup and have difficulty coping, managing any type of cognitive processes, regulating their self-sabotaging behaviors, feeling trust in those around them or even themselves, or dealing with life in general. This has a huge impact on our society, in which it reflects the need for those who have suffered trauma to have access to appropriate care in which they can learn to heal from those traumas in an appropriate manner.
